Toyota Corolla Cross for Sale: Grade and Year Guide

A comparison sheet listing six 2026 Corolla Cross grades with columns for powertrain, drive type, combined mpg, and the equipment to confirm

Looking at a Toyota Corolla Cross for sale? Compare 2026 gas and hybrid grades, mpg, and equipment, then start a request for the exact match you want.

A Toyota Corolla Cross for sale can be a 2022 gas model, a 2023 hybrid, or a 2026 grade with a different front end. Toyota introduced the 2022 Corolla Cross as a compact crossover, added the hybrid for 2023, and kept three gas grades and three hybrid grades for 2026. The gas model can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Every hybrid grade has standard all-wheel drive. Two ads can use the same model name and still describe different cars.

What a Toyota Corolla Cross for Sale Includes

The year is the first filter. On September 9, 2021, Toyota announced the 2022 Corolla Cross as a new compact crossover. That release offered front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, L, LE, and XLE grades, and a 169-horsepower 2.0-liter engine. That first year is gas only, so a 2022 listing cannot be a hybrid.

Toyota also said that 2022 model has more than eight inches of ground clearance. Wheel choices ran from 17-inch steel on the L to 18-inch alloy on the XLE. Those details matter when an early used car is parked next to a later hybrid. You are comparing two different powertrains, not two copies of the same car.

The hybrid is the second break. On April 6, 2023, Toyota said the Corolla Cross Hybrid would reach dealers that June. The release gave it standard all-wheel drive, 196 horsepower, and an EPA-estimated 42 combined mpg. The first hybrid grades were S, SE, and XSE. Toyota described those three grades as sport grades.

A listing that says "Corolla Cross AWD" can still be the gas model. Ask which powertrain the all-wheel drive belongs to, and stop if a seller calls a 2022 car a hybrid.

For 2026, Toyota's May 8, 2025 release keeps the same split and refreshes the look. It lists three hybrid grades with a fifth-generation hybrid system, standard all-wheel drive, 196 net combined horsepower, and a manufacturer-estimated 42 combined mpg. It lists three gas grades in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, with up to a manufacturer-estimated 32 combined mpg.

The same May 8, 2025 release adds a new front design for each powertrain. The hybrid gets a color-matched grille, while the gas model gets a wider grille. It also adds a newly available 10.5-inch touchscreen and Cavalry Blue paint on select grades. A 2022 XLE and a 2026 Hybrid XSE can share the model name and still answer different questions about fuel use, traction, and equipment.

Why the year belongs in the request

Put the year, or a year range, in the request so a gas-only car is not offered as a hybrid. The 2022 launch is the reason that range matters. Toyota limited that first lineup to the gas L, LE, and XLE. There is no 2022 hybrid grade that a shopper can request.

The 2023 hybrid release is the next line to draw. From that point, S, SE, and XSE name the hybrid sport grades, and all-wheel drive is standard on them. A later gas Corolla Cross can still be front-wheel drive. The badge on the rear does not settle the powertrain question.

The May 8, 2025 release covers the 2026 model year. Use that date when you cite the refreshed front end, the 10.5-inch screen, or the cold-weather package. Mixing the announcement date with the model year makes the equipment claim look inconsistent.

Compare a Toyota Corolla Cross for Sale by Grade

The EPA's 2026 Corolla Cross page splits the fuel figures by powertrain, not by grade name. The front-wheel-drive 2.0-liter gas model is rated 31 city, 33 highway, and 32 combined. The all-wheel-drive gas model is rated 29 city, 31 highway, and 30 combined. The hybrid all-wheel-drive model is rated 46 city, 39 highway, and 42 combined.

Toyota's May 8, 2025 release is the source for which 2026 equipment is standard or available. Read the table as a request filter: the mpg column identifies the powertrain, and the last column names the item to confirm before two grades count as equal.

2026 gradePowertrain and driveCombined mpgWhat to confirm
Gas L2.0L gas, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive32 combined mpg FWD or 30 AWDConfirm the drive type.
Gas LE2.0L gas, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive32 combined mpg FWD or 30 AWDConfirm the cold-weather package on AWD.
Gas XLE2.0L gas, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive32 combined mpg FWD or 30 AWDThe cold-weather package is standard on AWD.
Hybrid S2.0L hybrid with all-wheel drive standard42 combined mpgConfirm the hybrid system.
Hybrid SE2.0L hybrid with all-wheel drive standard42 combined mpgThe cold-weather package is available.
Hybrid XSE2.0L hybrid with all-wheel drive standard42 combined mpgThe cold-weather package is standard.

The practical split is fuel use versus traction. The hybrid's 42 combined rating is 12 mpg higher than the front-wheel-drive gas model. It is also 12 mpg higher than the 30 combined rating for all-wheel-drive gas. That gap matters if you drive often, and it matters less if you want the gas L and rarely need extra traction.

Confirm the drivetrain on the listing, because a gas Corolla Cross can be either. A hybrid grade does not give you a front-wheel-drive choice. Toyota's May 8, 2025 release says all-wheel drive is standard on the three hybrid grades. If an ad offers a front-wheel-drive hybrid, ask for the window sticker before you go further.

Equipment that separates close grades

The May 8, 2025 release says a cold-weather package is standard on two grades. The two grades are the gas XLE with all-wheel drive and the Hybrid XSE. The package includes a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. It is available, not standard, on the LE with all-wheel drive and on the SE.

Do not assume a heated seat just because the ad says XLE or SE. Ask whether the car is the all-wheel-drive XLE, the Hybrid XSE, or a grade where the package was optional. A front-wheel-drive XLE is not the same equipment claim as an all-wheel-drive XLE.

The same release makes Cavalry Blue available on the gas LE, gas XLE, Hybrid SE, and Hybrid XSE. A Cavalry Blue and Jet Black roof combination is available on the SE and XSE. The XLE can have 18-inch dark-gray wheels. The Hybrid XSE can have glossy-black 18-inch wheels.

Color and wheels are preferences, and they do not replace the powertrain. Say which of those you want, then keep the year, gas or hybrid, and drive type as the required lines. A two-tone roof on the wrong powertrain is still the wrong vehicle.

The release also says a 10.5-inch touchscreen is newly available, along with a 7-inch display or a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Treat the word available as a question, not as proof that the car in the photo has the part. On a used example, the window sticker or build sheet is the record that settles the screen, the cluster, and the cold-weather package.

Write the Listing Requirements First

A useful Corolla Cross request names the model year or year range, gas or hybrid, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the features you will not give up. Color and budget can stay flexible, but the powertrain should not.

  1. Pick gas or hybrid first, using the mpg figures above.
  2. Pick front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. On a hybrid, all-wheel drive is standard.
  3. Name the grade for the equipment it changes, such as the cold-weather package.
  4. Add must-have items in plain words, such as heated seats or a two-tone roof.
  5. Set a year range so a 2022 gas model is not offered as a hybrid.

On a used Corolla Cross, match the window sticker or build sheet to the VIN. A trim badge does not prove that a cold-weather package or a larger screen was installed. If the feature is required, ask for that confirmation in writing before you place a deposit.

Keep condition separate from the spec. Service records, title status, mileage, and an independent inspection describe that vehicle. They do not change which powertrain Toyota built, and a clean inspection of the wrong car is still the wrong car.

What to verify on a used example

Check four records before you compare a used price. The title should match the VIN and the seller. The service history should cover more than an oil-change stamp if the seller is claiming careful use. An independent inspection should look at the vehicle you would actually buy. The out-the-door total should include the fees you will pay, not only the advertised figure.

On a hybrid, ask the seller to point to the hybrid language in the equipment record. On a gas model, ask them to point to the drivetrain line, because a photo of the rear badge is not enough. The April 6, 2023 announcement made all-wheel drive standard on the hybrid, so a front-wheel-drive hybrid claim needs a document behind it.

If the document and the car disagree, stop and ask for another vehicle instead of averaging the two. The request should describe the car you would accept, not the car a seller hopes is close enough.

Compare Price Only After the Grade Matches

Toyota's current Corolla Cross page shows a starting MSRP of $25,335. That is a manufacturer starting figure, not a price Automotive Car Brokers charges or can quote. Destination, options, taxes, and dealer fees are separate, and a used transaction price will not match a new base MSRP.

This guide does not assign a separate base price to each grade. The public model page shows one starting figure, and the grade pages do not publish a stable per-grade MSRP in plain text. Comparing a remembered LE price with a remembered XSE price would invent a gap. Ask for the out-the-door figure on the exact vehicle instead.

Compare two vehicles only after the year, powertrain, drivetrain, and grade match. A gas LE and a Hybrid SE can look close in a search result and still differ in fuel use, standard drive type, and equipment. Automotive Car Brokers does not hold inventory and does not promise a price or a discount in advance.

The Toyota buying path sends a new Toyota request to the dealership that franchises the make. You can name the model and trim, or send a stock number from that inventory. A new-vehicle request is only a request, so it does not mean the Corolla Cross is available, held, or priced.

What a matching comparison looks like

A fair pair is two 2026 gas LE models with the same drive type, or two Hybrid SE models with the same required package. An unfair pair is a 2022 gas XLE set against a 2026 Hybrid XSE because both ads say Corolla Cross. The second car has a different powertrain, a different standard drive type, and equipment the 2022 release did not list.

Write the difference down before you ask for a price. Year, gas or hybrid, drive type, grade, and the one feature you will not drop are enough. If a seller changes one of those lines, it is a new comparison, not a discount on the first car.

Turn the Match Into a Vehicle Request

Automotive Car Brokers is a vehicle brokerage and sourcing service, not a dealership, a marketplace, or a lender. No vehicle shown on the site is held, offered for sale, or priced by the company. The live homepage says Greg searches all nine lots and works the dealer side. You can pick the vehicle up in person, or have it delivered anywhere in the country. The company does not arrange financing.

The How It Works page confirms the steps. You write the car, the budget, and the must-haves once. Greg searches all nine lots and brings back what matches. Dealer-side price work happens in that search. Paperwork and the next purchase steps are handled with you. The page also says timings and response commitments are not published, so this guide does not invent them.

New Toyota requests are limited to supported makes and models. Pre-owned requests can name any make. Either request can include the Corolla Cross year, powertrain, and must-have equipment from this guide. The Toyota page says a new request goes to the dealership that franchises the make. Specifications stay on the manufacturer and dealership pages, which is why the year and grade claims in this guide cite those sources.

If you already found a stock number, send that number with the request. If you have not, the written description is enough. Include the year range, gas or hybrid, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the one or two features you will not drop. The live site says delivery is arranged per vehicle, and it does not publish a delivery price or a travel time. Ask Greg what delivery involves for your own address.

Leave years-of-experience claims and license numbers out of the decision. The live homepage and about page do not agree on those figures, so neither number is safe to repeat. What you can confirm is the service: one written description, a search of nine stores, and a request that does not hold a car or lock a price.

Frequently Asked Questions

What years of Corolla Cross can I compare?

Toyota announced the 2022 Corolla Cross on September 9, 2021, as a gas model in L, LE, and XLE grades. The hybrid arrived for 2023, with S, SE, and XSE grades, standard all-wheel drive, and an EPA-estimated 42 combined mpg. The 2026 lineup still has three gas grades and three hybrid grades. Toyota announced that refresh on May 8, 2025.

Is every Corolla Cross all-wheel drive?

No. Toyota's May 8, 2025 release offers the 2026 gas grades in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The hybrid grades have standard all-wheel drive. Check the listing and the window sticker. The model name alone does not tell you which one you are seeing.

Which 2026 grade has heated seats as standard?

Toyota's May 8, 2025 release makes the cold-weather package standard on the gas XLE with all-wheel drive and on the Hybrid XSE. That package includes a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. It is available, not standard, on the LE with all-wheel drive and on the SE. Confirm it on the exact vehicle.

Can I request a Corolla Cross through Automotive Car Brokers?

Yes. The vehicle request form takes a new supported Toyota configuration or a pre-owned description. Name the year, gas or hybrid, drivetrain, and any feature you require. The request does not hold a car or lock a price.
